FUN IN FALMOUTH
Wolf Rock meet Charles Darwin!
You don’t have to have a Tardis to travel in time. All you need to do is visit the Maritime Museum in Falmouth and there you can meet the legendry scientist Charles Darwin. (or at least an actor pretending to be him)
Least that’s what Wolf Rock class did as part of their topic on evolution.
The trip took place on 19th November when all 32 pupils headed to the museum where, as well as meeting Darwin, they got to handle some real fossils and learn all about life aboard a sailing vessel in the 19th Century.
Did you know Darwin’s uncle was Josiah Wedgewood of pottery fame, that his trip on the Beagle lasted 5 years and landed in Falmouth? And originally he studied religion so he could become a church minister?
All the pupils thoroughly enjoyed the trip which was made possible by the Cornish Heritage Trust who very kindly paid the transport costs. It is an organisation committed to giving pupils the opportunity to explore our county which Year 6 certainly did.
