St Just Primary School

Welcome to Long Ships

Dear Grownups,

Thank you very much for your understanding and patience over the past week, your support has enabled us to maintain a level of normality in class during a rather tricky and unsettling time.

Thank you for all you have done to support your child's learning up until now and for all you are about to do moving forward.

To get you started, on Friday each child brought home a "pack" of things to help them to continue to access their learning at home. In the pack you will find some spelling, comprehension, writing and maths activities and some ideas of other things you can do at home without the need for many resources. It is my hope that this pack will provide you with just enough to get you going whilst we all adjust to new routines.

Following this, there will not be any home learning tasks for the two week Easter holiday, as I would like you to spend time with your families as best you can. All that I ask is that your child continues to read; this does not have to be a book, it may be instructions or a recipe, a magazine or the rules to a board game!

After the Easter break, check back in on the class page for more home learning updates.

Dear Longships,

Thank you for being you! You are a class of 30 incredible, thoughtful, hardworking and funny individuals, who have kept Mrs.Fanelli and I busy, but made everyday worth coming to school for! You should all be very proud of what you have achieved so far in year 1 and I hope you are all ready to show your grownups what you know!

A couple of things to remember!

  • It has been a long time since your grownups were in year 1 and things were a bit different back then, so they may not always know or understand how we do things. Therefore, it is up to you to be the teacher and help them to learn. Take your time and don't get grumpy with them if they don't get it first time, remember - mistakes are how we learn!
  • You may have already read some of the books on Bug Club, or even your books at home, but that doesn't mean you can't read them again. You might even spot something you didn't the first time! Also, don't forget to click on the Bug when you see him so that you get your coins and so that I know if you need more books.
  • Don't forget to try out Numbots - it looks awesome! I will put a letter on the website for your grownups so they can find out more.
  • And last of all, remember to be kind to your brothers and sisters and help your grownups where you can.

Thank you all for your continued support,

Mrs. Pilkington and Mrs. Fanelli   :)
